Verdict: I bought this kit in my local model shop (Howleys of Weymouth) a couple of years ago for just over £13. It’s taken me a couple of years on and off (more off than on) to complete, and has been a really enjoyable build, although one where you really have to take your time and don’t try to rush it. The kits very detailed, not only in the quality of the moulding, but also in the number of components involved. There are some minor fit issues (see build log) but nothing that can’t be quite easily overcome. I love this kit, not only is it unusual, but it builds into a really nice looking item. So if you see one when you’re out and about, or trawling through eBay, add one to your stash and take your time building it! Highly recommended.

Lovely work and an really interesting subject. A few of thoughts:

1 I love the base. It really sets off a beautifully made kit 🙂
2 Personally I’d prefer to see the helmet on the pilot’s seat, not on the base 🙂
3 Amen to someone producing a similarly detailed Vulcan cockpit:-)

Thanks for taking the time to comment Tim, much appreciated 🙂

I tried the helmet on the seat, but it hid too much detail for me.

PS. A guy called Hugo from RP Models (you can find him on facebook) has released a 1/10 resin Spitfire cockpit complete with full Douglas Bader figure. I might have to get one of those!
